proved himself to be a keen, capable and "efficient officer, well adapted to the special

conditions of work in this country .... His general

"conduct throughout was very good, he is of a cheerful

"disposition, possessing grit, adaptability, and energy "which are favourable requirements for the type of work

"he was engaged on. As a junior officer, his work did

"not provide much scope for judging his administrative

"ability, but he managed his safari conditions most

"satisfactorily and I would say that his capabilities in "this direction were promi sing. His professional ability "in practice fully upheld his good academic qualifications "which rendered him a most useful and reliable officer."
